Last week a new German exchange student started working with me in the lab. It's been really nice having someone else around in the lab with me, but also a bit of an adjustment for me since I had gotten used to being on my own. But now I have my own little student to do all my grunt work for me. And she is super excited and keen to do anything, including washing up all the dirty dishes :) So work's been going pretty well now that I am getting more familiar with things there. It's nice having more freedom and responsibilities. The boss is back this week from his holiday in New Zealand and it will just be a matter of time before he's gone again (he's not around much).
Todd's doing well, healthy and somewhat happy... going through some adjustments getting used to his new office space and commute to work. All in all things here are good. We both miss everyone a lot, more than usual lately. It's been hard being so far away from home for so long without a visit :( We will be home next year for Christmas holidays and I think that Todd will be returning some time around May/June for work stuff. So in the mean time we would love to have some visitors if anyone is looking for an excuse for a vacation :) Summer's here and it's hot, hot, HOT. We are trying to stay cool in air conditioned buildings or in the pool while you are all trying to stay warm in the north.
Here's a photo of a rhinoseros beetle. They are all over the river side, usually flipped over on their backs strugging to flip back over. Todd helped this one flip over, it clung to his sandle and wouldn't let go. He started flicking his foot to try to flick it off and it started making this angry hissing sound. We finally got it off by poking it with a stick.
Here's us missing you!! Lot of love, hugs and kisses... xoxo
