Lazy Sunday

Ok so it's not sunday here anymore... actually it's tuesday morning now. I've been meaning to update our blog for a while but I've been a lazy housewife lately.

Todd and I had another lazy sunday in Brisbane this past weekend. We took the little ferry across the river to the Eagle Street Pier in the city where we had coffee on the river front and wandered through the sunday market. We had a late start on the day and almost everything was shutting down by the time we were there. A couple things that we have learned here about Australians: they like to drink a lot and they don't like to work much. We thought it was bad in Montreal when the shops closed at 5pm on the weekends, but here they are only open 12-4 on sundays and close by5pm every other day of the week. It's also been a bit strange that there are not many people out wandering around the streets at night. After coming from Montreal where there were tons of people everywhere all the time it seems like a bit of a ghost town here sometimes. But at the same time it's kind of nice getting away from the hustle and bustle of things. The only place that I have noticed there are mobs of people is in the Valley where all the night clubs and bars are located. On the weekends that place is swarming with young drunk people everywhere. It seems like the entire city comes out to that one neighbourhood on friday and saturday. It's no wonder they don't like to work on the weekends, they are all busy drinking at the bars.
